of Clothing Kids!
Our dearest Service Project is Clothe-a-Child. Each year the majority of the money we raise goes to fund our purchase of new clothes for low-income children.
Let's go shopping!
Each December we gather to take these kids to a major department store. Many times their parents or grandparents have shared that these clothes may be the only gifts the kids will have under the Christmas tree. For our members, we look forward to meeting those for whom we work through the year. We help them find the clothes that fit and get the most for the money we have to spend. How many children and the amount we have to spend per child varies with the amount we bring in during the previous year.
Several times, we brought in enough money to hold both a winter and a summer Clothe-a-Child. This second event gets them new clothes for school.

How did it start?
We began this as a joint venture with the Lions Club. During the early days, we would help interview the prospective families. Then after taking the kids shopping at the J.C. Penney’s in Lafayette Square Mall, the Lions also provided bags of food. The Lions bowed out not to long before Penney’s closed. We then made Clothe-a-Child our own. We moved to our current department store partner Kohl’s in Speedway. We also now rely on our community partner, the Fay Biccard Glick Neighborhood Center, to identify those in need of new clothes.
