Reading Program at College Park Elementary School

Beginning in March 2013, a dedicated group of Northwest Indy Kiwanians has been part of a reading program at College Park Elementary School. Our Club members read with selected third-graders over their lunch period on Wednesdays. The select third-graders are in need of additional help to prepare them for the Indiana State iLearn reading test. This test helps determine if the students could matriculate to the fourth grade. Recent news stories have shown that reading scores still are well below pre-pandemic levels. This project has seen strong results for the students in the program. All volunteers must complete a background check with Pike Township Schools and watch an anti-bullying video.
